Haflinger horse breed

All Haflinger horses are of beautiful golden colour, with a lush white mane and tail, so we call them "sunny horses". In clear weather they really look fiery-sunny. Haflingers reach up to 1.53 meters in height. These short animals have a broad chest and strong back. Movable and enduring, very clever and good-natured Halflingers not without reason deserved the glory of universal horses.

A few years ago we brought four Haflingers from Germany from Kiefferhof stables: a tribal stallion Akitan (DE 443430471105) and three pregnant mares, covered in Germany by stallion Stano (DE 481830051209). New foals are born annually and as of the start of 2019 we have 11 Haglingers in our stable. Now for sale there are 5 Halfingers.

All our horses are registered in the German Rheinisches Pferdestammbuch E.V., chipped with German birth-chips and have German passports. You can buy a horse from us. Now for sale are 5 Haflingers. Detailed information about them is in the section "Our Hourses".

Haflingers can boast of rather ancient roots: the first mentioning of Haflingers dates back to the middle ages! The authors of medieval texts described small agile horses that traveled deftly and tirelessly on steep mountain roads. There are two main theories of the origin of the breed. The first of them says that the ancestors of the Haflingers were Gothic horses abandoned in the Tyrol valley. The eastern blood of Gothic horses still manifests itself in the exterior of Haflingers. According to the second theory, this breed originated from the Burgundian stallion sent to Tyrol as a wedding gift to the Tyrolean princess. However that may be, Haflingers lived in a mountainous area from time immemorial, so they perfectly tolerate harsh climate and poor diet.
The Haflinger horse breed roots from the South Tyrol and got its name from the local village called Hafling. The founder of the breed was the stallion 249 Folie, born from semi-Arabian stallion 133 El BedaviXXII and the thoroughbred Tyrol mare. It is to him that all thoroughbred Haflingers descend through one of the seven lines (A, B, M, N, S, ST and W). Folie became the first Haflinger, registered in the society of horse lovers and professional breeders in 1874, but the breed was officially recognized only in 1898.

After the birth of Folie, several Austrian nobles became interested in the breed and asked the government to support the breeding of the Haflinger horses. In 1899, the Austrian government allocated subsidies for the development of breeding programs of Haflingers. Horses that did not meet the quality standards of the breed, were used in the army for the transport of goods. In 1904 in South Tyrol, a cooperative of Haflinger breeders was founded. Its goal was to improve breeding procedures, maintain the purity of the breed and create a breeding book.
Two world wars nearly destroyed the Haflinger horse breed. Due to their endurance and unpretentiousness, these horses regularly served in the Austrian army, but the breeding programs were stopped.

After the First World War, South Tyrol with its most thoroughbred mares went to Italy. North Tyrol with its stud stallions stayed with Austria. Further cultivation of Haflingers became complicated, but was still resumed in peacetime. During the Second World War, the Haflingers were actively used by the army to transport goods.

Currently, "sunny horses" are found around the world, but most of the livestock comes from Austria. There are tribal farms in the USA, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and England. In total there are 250 thousand Haflingers in the world.
